SPA5 Signal Processor - Amplifier for Rife Plasma Tube AmplifierWith HS2 Heat Sink & FanThe SPA5 v1.0G is the "Do It All" plasma tube signal processor and amplifier. The SPA5 is our best selling
processor-amplifier.
The SPA4 is the most versatile plasma tube amplifier on the market today. The SPA5 accepts inputs from a wide range of signal sources, including laptop and desktop computers having a line level output or headphone jack, CD players, DVD players, MP3 players, Most cell phones, the UDB1108S, the Spooky2, the GB-4000, the F-165, F-175 and other F-series units, the PROGEN II 4050, or any other frequency generator that is capable of producing a square, sine or triangle wave output or a 5 volt, square wave audio modulated 3.1 MHz signal. The SPA5 is an improved and upgraded version of our original SPA4 v1.01 amplifier. Incorporating highly effective RF self-interference filtering, the SPA5 is much more resistant to disturbances caused by the electric field from the plasma tube. This ensures more stable operation of the SPA45during high power operation. The SPA4 has been designed to provide researchers with an integrated audio signal processor and high power amplifier system capable of accepting an input signal from multiple frequency sources while providing enough output power at 3.1 MHz to operate large plasma tubes. The powerful but quiet cooling fan mounted on the rugged HS2 heat sink allows the SPA5 to be operated at full power continuously.. A separate power supply for the cooling fan is not needed, because the SPA5 provides power for the fan. The power amplifier MOSFET in the SPA5 may be easily and quickly replaced should the need arise. Simply loosen the three mounting screws of the MOSFET and replace the transistor, no soldering is required. Two power supplies are required to operate the SPA5, one supply of +20 volts for the logic circuitry and cooling fan, and another of between +15 and +190 volts, depending on the type of plasma tube being used. Please refer to the operating manual for full technical details. A type LC31 coupler assembly and a 23 foot / 7 meter length of coaxial cable is required to connect the SPA5 to a plasma tube. The standard carrier frequency oscillator of 3.1 MHz will be supplied with the SPA5unless you specify a different frequency at the time of your order. If you desire a different carrier frequency then please enter your choice of frequencies during the PayPal checkout process, or send an email to us at engineering@spectrotek.com and tell us what frequency you need. PA2 Rife Plasma Tube Amplifier With HS2 Heat SinkPA2-HS2 Combination - $225.00The PA2 plasma tube amplifier may be driven by the SSQ-2F v1.41 or later models of the GB-4000 frequency generator. The PA2 plasma tube amplifier is designed to be driven by a SSQ-2F v1.41 processor when the SSQ-2F is set to output a TTL level (0 to +5 volt,) 3.1 MHz square wave square-wave duty-cycle modulated carrier. The PA2 may be driven by any other frequency generator that is capable of outputting a similar TTL carrier signal. The PA2 may also be driven by any frequency generator (such as later models of the GB-4000) that outputs a 3.1 MHz sine wave carrier that is square-wave duty-cycle modulated, with a peak-to-peak amplitude of 4.5 to 5.5 volts. NOTE: With most frequency generators that can also produce an audio signal in addition to a modulated 3.1 MHz carrier output, use of the PA3 amplifier will generally produce more satisfactory results. The powerful but quiet cooling fan mounted on the rugged HS2 heat sink allows the PA2 to be operated at full power for as long as the researcher desires. A separate power supply for the cooling fan is not needed, because the PA2 provides power for the fan. The power amplifier MOSFET in the PA2 may be easily and quickly replaced should the need arise. Simply loosen the three mounting screws of the MOSFET and replace the transistor, no soldering is required. Two power supplies
are required to
operate

PA1 Rife Plasma Tube Amplifier With HS2 Heat SinkPA1-HS2 Combination - $175.00The PA1 is designed to be driven by the SSQ-2F v3.110, v3.21 or v3.22. The PA1 increases the power output of the SSQ-2F v3.10 to a power level of between 300 to 500 Watts peak power. When using modulation duty cycles of between 0 to 100%, the PA1 will produce at least 300 Watts peak or continuous power output. For modulation duty cycles of between 1 to 50%, the PA1 can produce up to 500 Watts peak power output. These power levels are sufficient to operate even the largest plasma tubes. The powerful but quiet cooling fan operates on 12 volts DC, and allows the PA1 to be operated at full power for as long as the researcher desires. The power amplifier MOSFET in the PA1 may be easily and quickly replaced should the need arise. Simply loosen the three mounting screws of the MOSFET and replace the transistor, no soldering is required. The HS2 features a rugged solid aluminum core, measuring 30 x 30 x 28 mm, which provides a massive 25.5 cc of heat absorbing mass to rapidly remove the heat from the PA1. To dissipate the heat into the air stream provided by the cooling fan, a total of 108 fins with a surface area of 812 cm^2 or 125 in^2 extend into the airflow. The HS2 maintains a safe operating environment for the MOSFET on the PA1, ensuring stable operating conditions and high efficiency. Please download and read the instruction manual for the PA1 before ordering. |
Type LC31 - 3.1 MHz Link Coupler for Plasma TubesComplete LC31 Coupler Assemblies for Bill Cheb Plasma TubesThe LC series of plasma tube couplers have been designed to work with all of our amplifiers. Using an LC coupler allows you to to efficiently feed RF power to your plasma tube while preserving signal quality. The LC31 coupler system has been designed to perform properly with plasma tubes manufactured by Bill Cheb, such as the SSQ-PT, SSQ-ST, SSQ-BAT, the 4 inch, 5 inch and 8 inch Phanotron tubes, and the 7 inch x 18 mm Quartz Ar/He and Ne/Ar tubes. Other makes and models of plasma tubes may be used with these LC31 couplers, however it may be necessary to change the value of the series link capacitor or the coaxial tuning capacitor. Starting with a tubular PVC coil form, a heavy-enamel insulated 18 gauge copper wire secondary coil is wound directly on the PVC coil form. This coil will connect to your plasma tube. A primary winding of 14 gauge PVC insulated wire is then wound over the center of the secondary coil. The primary coil accepts the RF power from the amplifier through a length of coaxial cable. High-quality Mica capacitors tune of the primary winding for maximum power transfer. Some LC couplers have a high voltage coaxial capacitor connected across the terminals of the secondary coil. This capacitor tunes the secondary coil to match your plasma tube. Screw terminal connector blocks are used for all electrical connections to the LC coupler. There are no wires to solder. To use the LC couplers, simply connect one end of a 23 foot / 7 meter length of 50 ohm coaxial cable to the RF OUT connection of your amplifier. Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the input terminals of the LC coupler. Connect two insulated wires from the output terminals of the LC coupler to the electrodes of your plasma tube. That's it! Now, power up your system. No tuning is required. If you are using a Bill Cheb Original 2 inch x 26 inch Super Tube, you should purchase the model LC31OST coupler assembly which comes with the model TCR (red) coaxial capacitor installed. NOTE - The 2 inch "Original Super Tube" is a special order tube, and is not generally recommended for use due to the high drive power required. Note that this coupler does NOT work with the SSQ-ST plasma tube. For the SSQ-ST, please purchase the LC31-ST coupler. Tto allow the plasma tube to be placed at some distance away from the computer and control electronics, the LC coupler system has been designed to operate with a 23 foot / 7 meter length of 50 ohm coaxial cable between the output of the amplifier and the input of the LC31 coupler. CAUTION: the use of connecting cables shorter than 23 feet / 7 meters in length may cause damage to the amplifier! Please refer to the instruction manual for further details. When ordering any LC31 coupler. please be sure to send us an email or place a note on your order and let us know exactly which plasma tube you will be using so that we can be sure to send you the right coupler for your plasma tube |

Excessive heat is the most common cause of Plasma tube failure. This type of damage will typically result in contamination of the gas mixture inside the tube, causing an unwanted color shift in the discharge and/or poor performance. The process of ionizing the gas causes the glass wall of the tube directly under the electrodes to become very hot. Using ordinary bare copper or aluminum electrodes may result in damage to the tube wall due to overheating if high powers are used or if the electrode is too small for the power level being used. Untreated copper or aluminum electrodes do not effectively remove excess heat from the plasma tube. For complete technical details and correct use of the Type "E" electrodes, please download the instruction manual. |
