Test setup with Three Tubes

This is a view of the three tubes used for the tests described in this article. The top tube is the 25 mm Argon/Neon tube. The center tube is the 25 mm Hydrogen tube. The lower tube is the 10 mm Argon/Neon tube with the PVC tube supports in place The spiral wire electrodes are shown in place around the 25 mm electrode placement area at the ends of the tube. In this picture, the tubes are energized, and show the normal colors associated with Argon and Hydrogen gasses. Notice that the 10 mm tube is noticeably brighter in the center. This is due to the increased RF power density in the restricted discharge column.
